NEW YEAR

At this night, I have to mention what Gaza is going through these days. I don't have a word that might be able to express what a mother, whose child has just been killed, feels!! Who could expect that this baby who was born days after 2008's new year's eve, would never survive to see this night?? At least we know that 2009 can't get any worse, already 2000 were injured and 400 were killed. I want to start this year with a prayer not for the souls of those who died, but for the souls of those who are pretending to be alive!! we need a prayer to wake us up .

Even though this year has introduced more sorrow to us, I will still wish a happy new year for everyone. It has always been a battle between life and humanity, our existance today proves who's winning. At the end we always have to bring this green tree , in the middle of the winter, to our cold homes and remind ourselves that we struggled to be. We have to hope for a tomorrow, a next week , and a next year, because we will always win. so HAPPY NEW green YEAR.

Days When The Whole World Became BLIND

و أخيراً ... ها هو يوم قرر العالم اعطاءنا اياه. يوم ندعوه لنا و ملكنا. لا ليس يوما نحتفل فيه بعيد استقلال بلادنا...و لا يوما نحتفل فيه بوقف حصار قطاع , أو منع تدمير مقدَسات في مدينة هي الأقدس.يوم تَقرَر فيه أننا لن نخلع كوفيتنا .. و سنحتفل بكوننا فلسطينيين.
بتُ أضحك كلما قرأت احدى هذه الاعلانات أو الرسائل التي تروج لهذا اليوم .. أضحك لست لأنني فرحة, بل لأننا... و بعد حروب أودت بنصف شبابنا و قطرات دمٍ أضعام ما ملك العالم من بترول , و بعد انتفاضات و ثورات .. و افتتاح منظمة في الأمم المتحدة تُعنى فقط بالقضية الأشهر في العالم, و بعد ابادات و احتجاجات على الابادات (التي لم تعد فقط تطال الانسان الفلسطيني, بل وصلت الى ما هو أهم ...... الدجاج) , و بعد مئات الصفحات في كتب التاريخ , و بعد مؤتمرات و قرارات .... كل ما نجده كنتاج هو يوم نحتفل فيه بالكوفية.
أعلم أن الكوفية رمز , رمز للقضية... التي صارعت و مازالت تصارع حتى يكون عمرها الأبدية. و لكن.. مازلت أسأل نفسي ... ماذا لو ماتت القضية و بقيت الكوفية, هل سنتخذ الكوفية وطناً؟؟؟ هل سنعيش من خلال هذه الكوفية؟؟ هل هذا هو ما نحصل عليه كل 80 سنة ؟؟ هل سنحصل على وطن عندما يرتعش العالم رعباً برؤيتنا مرتدين الكوفية على أعناقنا؟؟
سألبس الكوفية و أجاري وطنيتي, و إن احتاج الأمر سأضع قبعة تشي غيفارا و أعلن التمرد على الواقع و بكل اللغات, و سأحل رباط حذائي ليعلم العالم أنني لا أبالي .. و سأمزق بنطالي ..و لكن سأبقى على يقين بأنني سأخلد الى فراشي مع حلول منتصف الليل لأستيقظ في اليوم التالي و أنسى .... أنسى حتى يبعث لي أحدهم و يذكرني باليوم العلمي لحقوق الحشرات .. عندها سألبس زي نحلة ز أطالب بمنع استخدام مبيد الحشرات.
في النهاية .....من يذكر متى استشهد الشيخ ياسين , محمد الدرة, أو محمد البرعي؟؟؟؟

Shops Closures See Starbucks Loss (BBC)

Fewer customers are visiting UK Starbucks outlets, the firm said.
Starbucks has seen its first quarterly net loss in more than 15 years - blaming costs linked to closing about 600 of its underperforming stores.
The Seattle-based firm lost $6.7m in the three months to 29 June, compared with a $158.3m profit a year earlier.
Starbucks also said it would close more stores than it would open next year.
It has been struggling in the US as consumers have cut back their spending on expensive coffee. Rising dairy prices have also raised costs.
There has also been increased competition with the likes of Dunkin' Donuts and McDonald's introducing their own lines of gourmet coffee.
Starbucks said that there had also been a fall-off in customers in the UK, while sales growth had slowed in Canada.
Earlier this week it said it planned to shut 61 of its 85 stores in Australia.
Starbucks, which has also announced plans to cut 1,000 office jobs, said sales rose 9% to $2.57bn.
